Local Volunteering

Why do volunteering

Local volunteering is about helping others by giving your own time to a good cause. As well as benefiting yourself by having the chance to demonstrate your talents and develop new skills.

It helps you create a positive impression, makes you more innovative, creative and gives you a range of useful skills.

Volunteering allows you to make a make a difference to something that is important to you as well as having the opportunity to give back to the community and supporting others along the way.

Whether you are a young person or somebody with the time to commit, volunteering to something that you are interested in can open you up to further opportunities.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone, whatever your age, back ground or work experience, you will have a skill that someone needs. Volunteers are happier and healthier than non-volunteers. During later life, local volunteering is even more beneficial than exercising and eating well. Older people who volunteer remain physically functional longer, have more robust psychological well-being, and live longer. For some, community volunteering can be a route to employment, or a chance to try something new which may lead to a career change.

10 benefits of volunteering

Not sure what you want to volunteer in?

You should begin where your passions lie and what is important to you. Allow yourself to create positive change in the world. If your actions are led from a place of passion all the hard work will be worth it, you will be more committed to the cause and as a result, your impact will be that much bigger.
